About Us

 

We are a private practice providing neuropsychological evaluations to adults and adolescents ages 16 and over. Our team is dedicated to assisting individuals and their families understand the connection between their brain and it’s behavioral functioning through assessment.  Our goal is to provide our patients with diagnostic clarity and evidence-based treatment recommendations to help improve their quality of life.

Deven M. Mavani, Psy.D, LP

Clinical Neuropsychologist/Owner

Dr. Deven Mavani is a licensed clinical psychologist and is the owner of Neponset Valley Neuropsychology, LLC. He received his Master’s and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at William James College and has provided neuropsychological evaluations in the community for over 5 years. He has trained in neuropsychology and psychological assessment in a variety of settings including community mental health, private outpatient, and in the VA Health System.  He received additional training by the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine in Cognitive Rehabilitation. He also provides clinical training and supervision to doctoral-level clinical psychology students in neuropsychological assessment. His clinical interests include: ADHD, complex dementia, general cognitive impairment, cognitive rehabilitation, stroke, and traumatic brain injury. 

He enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 children, watching movies, playing video games, outdoor activities, and reading.

Ashley M. Couto, Psy.D, LP

Clinical Neuropsychologist

Dr. Ashley Couto is a licensed clinical psychologist. Her education and training includes a doctorate in clinical psychology from William James College with a focus in neuropsychology and geropsychology, a pre-doctoral internship in clinical neuropsychology at Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial VA Hospital, and a two-year post-doctoral fellowship in clinical neuropsychology at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. She has over ten years of experience in neuropsychological assessment in a variety of settings, including private practice, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, outpatient medical centers, and in the VA Health System. She provides neuropsychological evaluations for adults (18+) across the lifespan, including those with neurological conditions, developmental conditions, and neuropsychiatric/emotional conditions. In working with clients, her personal goal is to help identify specific interventions to effectively manage symptoms. These include compensatory strategies to enhance daily functioning at work, school, personal life, and/or social functioning, and recommendations geared towards improving overall quality of life.   

When not at work, she enjoys traveling, trying new restaurants, cooking new recipes, and spending time with her family.

Emily Herzog, BS

Office Manager 

Emily Herzog is a graduate of Bridgewater State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Criminal Justice and a minor in Psychology. Emily has always had a fascination with the mental health field and looks forward to obtaining a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling down the road. Emily is thrilled to be joining the team at Neponset Valley Neuropsychology as Office Manager and is excited to have the opportunity to expand her understanding and experience in the field of neuropsychology. 

In her spare time, Emily loves to paint, listen to music, play tabletop games with friends and family, and care for her adorable bunny rabbit named Gus Gus. 

Halle Gavel

Administrative Assistant 

Halle is currently a student at Bay Path University in Longmeadow, Massachusetts and is majoring in Business Administration. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant for 4 years while working in a Dementia unit and a long-term nursing facility. Halle strives to further her education at BPU to study Psychology and concentrate in Mental Health. She is looking forward to being a part of the team here at Neponset Valley Neuropsychology. 

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her friends, family, and her dog, Odin. She also loves to cook, read, and watch movies. 

 

Matison Kramer, BA

Neuropsychology Assistant 

Matison is a graduate of Westfield State University with a Bachelor’s in Psychology and a concentration in Adolescent Development. Matison hopes to further her education through graduate schooling in the future as well as learned experiences. She is looking forward to being a part of and growing with the Neponset Valley Neuropsychology team. 

In her free time, she enjoys watching movies, spending time with friends, and going on hikes with family.

 

Lori Nguyen, BS

Neuropsychology Assistant 

Lori is a recent graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a Bachelor’s in Psychology. She was initially our undergraduate intern in Operations and Marketing in the Summer of 2021 and stayed on as an Administrative Assistant. She will be our second Neuropsychology Assistant starting in 01/2024. 

When Lori is not at NVN, she enjoys cooking, exploring new places, playing with her dog, and spending time with her friends and family.

 

Sophia Mello, BA

Doctoral Intern

Sophia Mello is a graduate of Emmanuel College with a Bachelor’s in Psychology. Sophia is thrilled to be a part of the Neponset Valley Neuropsychology team; she is eager to expand her expertise in psychology while enhancing her neuropsychological testing skills. Here, she aims to progress toward her goal of becoming a well-rounded, resourceful, and skilled psychologist.
Outside of work and school, Sophia enjoys spending time with her family and friends, swimming, reading a new book, and trying a new restaurant!
